I chose ALMA because my agency suggested it and I think it was a good decision. The classes at ALMA are smaller and the students are from all over the world. The students and teachers are friendly; it helps me feel more confident when I speak English. Before I came to Vancouver, I was studying in Kamloops. There were too many students in my class and many of them were Chinese or Taiwanese, so it was difficult to practice English. Last summer I went to Vancouver with my children who were enrolled in a summer camp program there. I also wanted to study English. Fortunately, I discovered ALMA. My first impression of ALMA was good. Everybody at ALMA was so sweet and friendly. I had looked around at some other schools, but I thought some of them were too expensive and some were too commercial. ALMA was not too big; it had good sized classrooms and a nice computer lab. I liked the teachers at ALMA very much. They were always ready to help the students. Even though I only studied at ALMA for one month, I felt my English improved a lot and I was confident in myself. I would recommend ALMA to anybody who wants to improve their English skills.

My name is Rocio. I’m Mexican. I’m 23 years old. I’m an accountant. I’m studying English because I need it for my job. In Mexico you can earn more money if you know how to speak English. I came to ALMA because my friend told me it was a good school. She was right. ALMA has a nice environment and the teacher’s are really good. The school has students from all different countries like China, Japan, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Taiwan, Korea, and the Middle East. It is very interesting to learn from them.

I am currently a student at Utsunmiya University in Japan. I came to Vancouver during my summer vacation to study English, because I really like English. I was studying English in Japan, but I rarely had the chance to use it so I came to Canada. In the future, I want to be a flight attendant, which requires good English skills. My teacher recommended ALMA to me, so I took a trial lesson. Everyone was friendly and kind. The classes have fewer students than other schools, so I thought I could really improve my English here. I’m enjoying my lessons very much. I have many friends and good teachers. The teachers teach each of us very closely. If I don’t understand something they teach me until I do. Thanks to that my English is better than when I first came here. I think I made the best choice.

My name is Susan. I have been studying at Alma for almost 7 months in the TOEFL iBT Preparation course. I am really satisfied studying at Alma English Institute, because the professors are very knowledgeable and the computer lab is very practical. Alma gives us the opportunity to learn and practice more vocabulary in a variety of contexts. The reading and listening segments are very useful. We can also practice speaking and be corrected by the professor individually. So I really enjoy and appreciate studying at Alma.

I chose ALMA English Institute by chance, and chance sometimes does really good things. I found that at ALMA the teachers were very available and adaptive. Those qualities were a result of the small number of students in each class and this permitted the teachers to focus on the real needs of each student. Last but not least, the ambiance created by the ALMA team made the learning serious, but also very pleasant. Result: my overall English skills have improved. Goal achieved!
